A Tale of a Knight

In the Beginning

Ishgard was a place he might have called home once. A time long since past and these days? Barely more than a fleeting memory. His parents - an elezen mother named Magnolia Valloreaux and his father, R'koji Valloreaux, were a bit of a scandal. Magnolia was destined to marry up from her well off family - destined to be a true lady of Ishgard. But one day she ran into a courier boy, R'koji. It was love at first sight and she swore off her arranged marriage to be with a man of no stature. It left them impoverished. Living in the Brume had been difficult for the pair - even more so when they welcomed their son R'nocturne Valloreaux into the world. They made do with what they could and though they knew they had given up a life of lavish luxuries, R'noct did not. He grew up in the cold of Ishgard with a cheery disposition and, above all else, an unwavering admiration for the knights of the Holy See. Through rose-tinted glasses, he saw them as heroes sworn to protect the city. Protect people. And while, in time, he would come to see how truly broken their system was... He still couldn't help but want to be as a Knight should be. Someone who protects others and fights for them.It wasn't long before his family abandoned The Holy See for a new life. Cutting ties with Ishgard completely, they set out into the Dravanian Forelands searching for a new life. And they found it in Tailfeather - tending to Chocobos, utilizing these great creatures to create a new delivery service. It was a lovely life that R'noct grew into. But no matter how many years had passed and no matter the distance, R'noct still thought of the Knights. Of wanting to be one. And soon into his twentieth year, he would get the chance when a strange troupe of Knightly heroes passed through.

The Order of the Dark Moors

It was serendipitous that night when he found himself crossing the paths of a group of Mercenaries passing through on their small town. They were open to his company. Even offered their own food and warmth by their travelling troupe's fire. He all to eagerly took them up on their offer, taking his fill and finding himself among amicable company. Deep into the night they spoke - he learned they belonged to a knightly order of their own making. The Order of the Dark Moors. Knights who once served Ishgard but found themselves exiled after many stood against director orders from the Church. Their beliefs unaligned with those of their order and their growing unease at the tyrannical grip they found themselves in.But they hadn't wanted to give up what they had fought for - protecting those who needed it. So they kept their mantle as Knights and moved through Eorzea, offering their services to any who found themselves in need. If an innocent life was at stake, the Knights from the Moors would come to their aid. And in that moment R'noct knew exactly where his place in this life was.

The Present

These days R'noct finds himself ever wandering - sometimes with his order, sometimes without. But he has never let go of his desire to protect others, no matter the cost. He has not returned to the walls of Ishgard out of fear -- but with nearly 20 years passing between his departure and current day, it would be a wonder that anyone would recognize him.He travels from city state to city state, sometimes even further for his order. Over his years of service, he has gained notoriety for his passion and determination to fight. The Blade of the Dark Moors. And he bares it with pride to all who would ask. Then, on a day much like any other, a voice called to him in the dark.Hear. Think. Feel.
